Pakistan unveils new hypersonic anti-ship missile Smash

Date:

Riyadh. Pakistan on Friday unveiled its new hypersonic anti-ship missile, named Smash, to the world at the World Defense Exhibition 2026 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Displayed by Global Industrial and Defense Solutions (GIDS), the missile is being presented as a dual-role hypersonic weapon, capable of carrying out both sea and land attacks. Smash is a ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) of Pakistan’s P-282 class, with a range of about 350 km.
The range of this missile is 290 kilometers. It follows a semi-ballistic trajectory and attacks at a nearly vertical angle while maneuvering in flight. This significantly reduces the enemy air defense response time. The first standard carriers of the Smash missile are the Zulfikar (Type 22) and Tughril class frigates. This can also be fired from a mobile platform located on the ground. Relying on China once again, Pakistan has taken a major strategic step. Pakistan has launched seven satellites into space from its territory. These also include Pakistan’s EO-2 spy satellite, which may increase India’s concerns.
